Abba,
We are encouraged from being united with your son, Christ.
His love comforts us.
Cover us with your Spirit of tenderness and compassion so that we may share it with our neighbors.
We pray – make our joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
We seek humility.
We cast our vote not out of out of selfish ambition or vain irksome conceit, but rather, in humility we value others above ourselves, not looking to our own interests but to the interests of others.
In our relationships with one another, we pray for the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Taking the very nature of a servant,
Humbled
Obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Do everything without grumbling
Even in the voting booth—we continue to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so we may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation
Let us not run or labor in vain for our civil responsibilities.
Let us approach our vote like a sacrifice and service coming from our faith.
