Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7
Lord Almighty Our God,
We are in exile.
We are refugees in this world – outcasts.
What do you say to the people you carried into exile?
“Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have children; give your children in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.
Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
We are immigrants in this fallen world.
Shine your light into our darkness.
Inspire our hearts to weep kindness for migrants.
Let’s shout concern for their welfare.
Keep us from being deceived.
Give us sweet dreams as we snuggle in your embrace.
Make clear who you have sent to lead us.
Let your will be done. Amen
