Mother of Tranquility,
You look and see oppression:
You see the tears of the oppressed—
let them find comfort in our arms
power was on the side of their oppressors—
let them find comfort in our arms
You see all toil spring from one person’s clumsy envy of another.
Meaningless
chasing the wind
Fools fold their hands
and ruin themselves
Better a handful of domestic tranquility
than handfuls of toil
chasing the wind
Meaningless
Two are better than one
two lie down together, they keep warm.
How can one keep warm alone?
One may be overpowered,
two can defend each other
A cord of three is not quickly broken.
Unite us.
Strengthen us.
Embrace us in peace
Amen
