8 Prayers to Election Day: Work out My Faith

Faithful Padre,

Grumble, grumble. We drag ourselves overwhelmed, tired and so ready for Election Day to be over.

Do everything without grumbling? Forgive me Lord for I sin.

In humility, I value my neighbor even if we disagree.

Reform  me Lord for I sin.

I continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling.

You work within me to will and to act to fulfill your good purpose.

We wrestle and toil.

My faith is a giant boulder I push uphill everyday. It is not the comforting blanket you hold in your hands if I just had the courage to let go and fall into your embrace.

Faith Alone.

Reform us to proceed without grumbling or arguing.

Transform us. Make us blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”

Grace Alone.

Help us shine like stars in the sky. We are so small in your  vast universe.

We hold firmly to your word of life – to love one another with your love.

Word Alone.

Rejoice and be glad. It is Reformation Day!

Amen
